Gervaise Jones Sr.

Gervaise Jones Sr., 81, of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida.

Family Visitation will be from 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Gallaher American Family Funeral Home, 2701 Cleveland Ave. Fort Myers, Florida, a public viewing will follow from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, at 3:30 pm May 28, 2017 at CityGate Ministries Church 1735 Jackson St. Fort Myers, Fl.  with Pastor David Pleasant Jr. of CityGate Ministries. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers. 

Gervaise Jones Sr. was born in Hyden, Ky. to Donna and Stanley Jones on November 23, 1935. Gervaise went to school in Hyden, Ky. He married Grace Asher Byrge, who already had three sons Bobby Eli Byrge (deceased), Walter Anthony Byrge of Ky. , and Jeffrey Wayne Byrge (deceased). Gervaise and Grace added  five children of their own; three daughters Grace Renee Towler of Fl., Tracey Lynn Sartor of Tx., and April Nicole Powers of Ala. and two sons; Gervaise Jones Jr., and Stanley Allen Jones (deceased).   Later in life, Gervaise had another son David Kimball of Fl.   Having been blessed with many children blended and biological, Gervaise was blessed to love and enjoy many grandchildren and great grandchildren throughout his life.

Gervaise worked in the construction industry and installation of water treatment plants for the majority of his life.  Gervaise served in his church for over 25 years on the security team, was an usher, and served anywhere else he was needed. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cards with family and friends.

Gervaise is preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings; four brothers Johnny, Arnold, Harvey, Chelsea and two sisters Ruth and Eva.
