James Tucker Obituary

James William Tucker, 70, of Ft. Myers, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019. Jim was born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 29, 1948. He lived in Germany during his childhood and had to learn English when he moved back to the States. He lived in Maine, Missouri, Virginia, Tennessee, West Virginia, and his favorite, Hawaii. He was fond of his time at Farrington HS as a track team member. Jim joined the Air Force in December of 1967. He worked in the weather unit due to his poor eyesight. After his honorable discharge in 1973, Jim attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he earned his B.S. in Healthcare Management. He went on to specialize in Nursing Home Administration. He loved talking to people and making them laugh along with an obsession with hot rod cars. Jim retired in 2014 and took a year to figure out Ft. Myers, Florida was the place he needed to be. He enjoyed playing volleyball and joking around with his new friends at Pine Ridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella Marian and William Tucker; sister Lennell Alice; and niece Tracy Perkins.

Surviving are his son, Jason Tucker and his wife, Laurie; grandchildren, Maverick and Talli; sisters, Brenda, Janet, and Karen; brothers, Leonard and Harold; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be held at 9:30 am on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Steve Highlander officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in Nashville, TN.
