Lorraine “Lorie” Marie (Lauzon) Tomko, age 86, died peacefully on September 18, 2018 in Fort Myers, Florida after a long illness. Lorraine was born on April 27, 1932, in Toronto, Canada, the daughter of Hilda (Doe) and Joseph A. Lauzon. She moved to Poland, Ohio in 1954 where she became a naturalized U. S. citizen after her marriage in Toronto to the love of her life, Thomas J. Tomko. The couple retired and moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1988 to enjoy the warm weather and sunshine.Lorraine was a very strong and compassionate wife who lovingly cared for her family and especially her husband for ten years after his massive stroke. Lorraine was gregarious, fun-loving and enjoyed knitting, singing, dancing, playing cards, and birdwatching. She was an amazing cook, baker, seamstress and gardener. People who met Lorraine never forgot her smile, laughter, and big hugs. Lorraine was a very loving and caring person with everyone she met. She was an excellent mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and especially her grandchildren. Lorraine is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Thomas J. Tomko, and is survived by her devoted children; Ellen (Thomas) Kiddy of Fort Myers, Elaine (Donald) Noonan of Punta Gorda, Thomas (Georgia) Tomko of Orlando; and her grandchildren Kristen (Craig) Nelson, Brett (Stephanie) Wierwille, Lindsey (Matt) Aumick, Thomas Kiddy Jr., Lauren (David) Hirsch, Thomas Tomko Jr., Kali Tomko and great grandchildren Henry, James and Charlotte Nelson; Evan, Elizabeth and Annie Wierwille; Norah and Owen Aumick, and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was also preceded in death by her mother Hilda (Doe) Lauzon, father Joseph Arthur Lauzon, and brothers Edward Albert Lauzon, John Victor Lauzon, Joseph Arthur Lauzon, and Leslie Richard Lauzon. She is survived by her loving brothers Kenneth Oswald Lauzon and Christopher Leslie Lauzon. A Celebration of Life is currently scheduled for Saturday January 19, 2019 in Fort Myers with information forthcoming through Gallaher American Family Funeral Home, Ft. Anyone having known Lorraine has found it to be a blessing in their lives. The family requests these individuals now pass on that positive energy, smiles, hugs, and laughter to others. We are all better people for having known Lorraine. She will be greatly missed but always present in our hearts.
