Amy Jane Dunaway, 67, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on May 22, 2025 on Captiva Island, Florida, where she resided. She previously resided in Peoria, Illinois.
Amy was born in Peoria on May 18, 1958 to Anne Hickey Rutledge and Dwight Rutledge. They both preceded her in death. After graduation from Limestone High School in Bartonville, Illinois, she attended Illinois Central College, where she was awarded an Associates Degree in Nursing.
She was employed as a Registered Nurse at OSF-Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She worked in the Surgical Department and the Emergency Department at that facility, last working in June 1991.
Amy married Dr. Frank R. Dunaway, III on April 7, 1990 and they shared over 35 years of joyful marriage. She was the mother of four children: Michelle, Kiera, Mariah and Reagan. Kiera and Reagan survive her.
She was an avid practitioner of "junk journaling" and brightened the hearts and lives of countless others with her extraordinary creations. She loved her life at the beach and around/about Captiva and had innumerable friendships with those she met there and elsewhere throughout the world.
Amy was an active member of St. John's Anglican Church in Henry, Illinois until the time of her death, attending during her frequent trips to Illinois to visit her daughter, Kiera.
A funeral mass will be celebrated by The Rt. Rev. J. Alberto Morales, OSB, DD, 9th Bishop of Quincy (ACNA) at 10:00 am on June 21, 2025 at St. John's Anglican Church in Henry with a graveside interment service to follow at the Henry Cemetery. Visitation at the church will begin one hour before the service.
