Carlyle B. Gebeau 1942-2019 LONGMEADOW- Carlyle B. Gebeau 77 of Port Charlotte, Florida died peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2019 with his loving wife Susan Gebeau of 21 years by his side following a brief battle with Cancer. Born in Longmeadow, MA he attended American International College and the University of CT. He held a graduate degree in Special Education, and a PHD in Family Counseling. As a young man, Carlyle joined the U.S Marine corps and proudly served his country from 1959-1965 following in his father’s footsteps. Professional experiences ranged from directing and managing various educational programs for people with cognitive disabilities, to owning a variety of small businesses. Carlyle also helped to establish one of the area’s first intermediate care facilities for people with more severe forms of cognitive and medically disabling conditions. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed biking, cooking, gardening and yard work. He is survived by his wife, Susan Minor-Gebeau of Port Charlotte, Florida, his 2 step children, Jason Candage of Salem, CT and Jennifer Candage of Granby, MA; his 3 children Kimberly Gebeau- Mantho and Jacquelyn Tyler of Longmeadow, MA and Joshua Gebeau of Agawam, MA from his former wife Gail Gebeau, and 7 grandchildren; Sirena, Emily, Hannah, Jeremiah, Andee, Evelyn and Savannah. He is also survived by 3 sisters Nina Locario, Louise Locario and Elizabeth Locario of MA, and one brother Philip Locario of Florida. A private memorial service will be held at a date to be determined.
