Dan Ward Jordan

January 21, 1944 — February 11, 2018

DAN WARD JORDAN January 21, 1944 – February 11, 2018 Dan Ward Jordan, 74, went Home to be with his Lord on February 11, 2018. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 21, 1944 to Helenanne Thompson Bryan and Theron Sheridan Ward, Jr. who was killed in WWII, after which Dan was adopted by William Ralph Jordan II who preceded him in death. Dan was happily married to Susan Kula Jordan for 42 years, and was the beloved dad of 6 children: sons Bryan, Jason, Cody, Luke, and Seth Jordan, and daughter Tera Arnold. He was proud grandpa to Aden, Eleri, Natalie, Lorelei, Eli, and Norah Jordan, and Grayson Arnold. He is survived by his brother William (Willy) Jordan III and sister Lora Palloni. His brother Willy writes: “Danny and I were close in age and thus did much together when we were kids.  He was an incredible athlete and my mentor in many sports.  He had the fastest fast ball in Little League and nobody would play the position of catcher because he threw the ball so hard – so that duty fell to his little brother.  He spent one year at school in Colorado Springs and had the record for most points scored in one game in Colorado high school basketball.  He was the hardest hitting defensive back in St Charles High School football.  He also loved the outdoors.  We spent every summer on the Edwards’ farm, Briarcroft, in Virginia, where we fished and swam and ran through the woods and rode horses all day long.  We had quite a childhood together and I have great memories of all of that.  He is at peace now and looking down at his family that he loved so very much.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.” Dan grew up to be a wonderful man and hardworking provider for his family. He loved to help people and his various occupations reflected his servant’s heart whether he was working with senior citizens, teens, or families. Dan’s favorite Bible verse and the one he loved to share was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” His heart’s desire was for people to know God’s love for them. He served the Lord for many years with his wife in the bus, Sunday school, Children’s Church, and nursing home ministries. Dan leaves behind a legacy of integrity, perseverance, and faithfulness. His family will remember him as the eternal optimist, always “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer,” Romans 12:12. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8. Please join us to celebrate Dan’s life at his memorial service on Thursday, February 15. The service will be from 3:00 to 4:00 with refreshments to follow. As Dan would say, everyone is welcome at: Tri City Baptist Church 24058 Heritage Place Punta Gorda, FL 33980 Ph 941-625-7412
