Deborah “Debbie” Traugott, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Febuary 19, 2020 at her home in North Fort Myers, Florida.
Born in Newark, Ohio she moved with her family to Southwest Florida in 1959, when Debbie was two. When the Hurricane Donna “Welcome Wagon” came calling in 1960 her parents almost packed up their young family to return to Ohio. The beauty of the area ultimately won the day and from that point forward, Lee County was Debbie’s home. Her father, Dick, was an area Golf Professional and her mom, Virginia, a secretary and homemaker. Debbie graduated in 1975 from Cypress Lake High School and attended Edison Community College. She worked at Vi Bentley Village for over 20 years. The two loves of her life were her daughters Melanie and Ashley.
Debbie is predeceased by her parents, Richard “Dick” and Virginia Miller, and her brother Richard “Rick” Miller. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Traugott of North Fort Myers and Ashley Traugott of Fort Myers; her sisters Patricia (George) Murphy of Nashville, Tennessee and Nancy (Sam) Lowe of Mary Esther, Florida. Two nieces Tricia (Robert) Hicks of Monterey, Tennessee and Erin Cantrell of Clarksville, Tennessee; Four nephews Chris (Michelle) Lowe of Niceville, Florida, Michael (Rebeca) Lowe of Montgomery, Alabama; Brett Miller of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Chad Miller of Orlando, Florida; as well as eight great nieces and three great nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 am at Gulf Coast Church of Christ located at 9559 Ben C. Pratt/Six Mile Cypress Parkway, Fort Myers, Florida 33966. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 am at the Church. Private interment will take place at Lee Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choosing in memory of Debbie.
