Elaine was born in New Orleans, LA on September 18, 1954 and moved to Fort Myers in 1957. Having grown up here she attended Orangewood Elementary and graduated Fort Myers High school in 1973. She attended FSU for one year and graduated from USF with a degree in Social Work. She spent the next 32 years working for the State of Florida helping people with disabilities get the help they deserve. During those years she went to night school and graduated from FGCU in union with USF with a Master Degree in Social Work. She met her future husband of 45 years in 1977. Got married in 1978 and had one daughter who she loved dearly. She raised Himalayan cats along with many other cats. Enjoyed embroidery, making several pieces for Rhonda while she was pregnant with her. Having been born with a heart defect, she spent her youth having many surgeries that allowed her to enjoy many adventures later in life. In 1961 Elaine was the “Lee County Heart Fund Sweetheart “. She enjoyed boating, cruising, laughing with friends, camping and road trips to the North Carolina mountains.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Gage, daughter Rhonda Elaine Gage, sister Carol Peagler Myers, Terri Sanders, Nephew Luke Myers, Mark Sanders and niece Tammy Sanders. She was preceded in death by George Phillip Peagler, Father and Merl Sharp Peagler, Mother

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Heart Association.

Services will be held at St Vincent de Paul Church with a celebration of life to follow. Date and time to be determined.
