Frederick Madden

September 20, 1942 — September 1, 2019

Frederick (Fred) Madden passed away unexpectedly on September 1 at age 76. He would have celebrated his 77th birthday on September 20.

Fred was born in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School. After graduation he served in the US Air Force from 1960 until 1965 as a firefighter. He was stationed at Schilling AFB for 2 years and then Moron/San Pablo AB Seville, Spain. During that time Seville became a very special place for him and he returned many times.

After discharge from the Air Force he worked at Boeing in Morton, PA. until entering nursing school at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia. He graduated nursing school in 1970 and was employed as an RN in Philadelphia until entering St. Joseph Hospital Nurse Anesthesia Program. He graduated in 1974 and was employed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist until his retirement in 2018. He thoroughly enjoyed giving anesthesia and chatting with the patients and staff. During his anesthesia training he also took flying lessons. He also served in the Army Reserve from 1973 to 1980.

He enjoyed biking, puttering around the house and chatting with his friends and neighbors.He also enjoyed sitting outside in the afternoon with his favorite cocktail, Johnny Walker Red & soda and watching the planes going in and out of the 2 nearby airports. He was known for his quick wit and infectious laugh.

He was a member of the American Legion and also the Los Toros 3973rd CDS.

He was the son of the late Alfred and Donna Rae Madden. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Michele, sons Marc (Andrea), Timothy (Laura) and David (Sarah). He is also survived by his sisters Donna Rae & Kate and brothers James and William.

Visitation will be held from 6:00PM - 8:00PM, Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Kiser Funeral Home 9231 Cypress Lake Dr Fort Myers, FL 33919. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00AM, Thursday September 12, 2019 at St. John XXIII Catholic Church 13060 Palomino Ln Fort Myers, FL 33912. Interment will be held at 2:00PM in Sarasota National Cemetery following the funeral mass.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Legion Southwest Florida Post 90 1401 SE 47th St Cape Coral, F 33904.
