James (Jim) Anthony Sr., 76, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away unexpectedly at home on January 31, 2019. He was born on January 13, 1943 in Bethlehem, PA and was the son of Mary (Racek) and Michael Anthony. He was united in marriage to Gail Laymon on June 4, 1999. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Michael (wife Barbara). He is survived by his loving wife Gail, daughter Michele Polgar (husband John) of Midlothian, VA, son Jim Jr. (wife Nicole) of Quakertown, PA, granddaughter Kennedy, grandsons Carson, Jack, and Nicholas, sister Marlene Howard (husband Ed), and brothers Tom (wife Cathy), and Bernard M , in addition to step daughter Penny Burden and step son, Chris Bolin (wife Vicki).
Jim graduated from Central Catholic High School in Allentown, PA and received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Miami in Miami, FL. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jim spent the majority of his career employed at Bethlehem Steel as Manager of Data Processing and later at EDS Corporation. He was a member of the former St. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church.
Jim enjoyed bowling but was ever so passionate about golf. He was a former member of the Silver Creek Country Club of Hellertown, PA and a current member of Legends Golf and Country Club of Ft. Myers, FL. Jim and Gail traveled extensively to visit family and also with friends to many exciting destinations. ‘G’Pap’, as his grandchildren called him, will be missed dearly. A Memorial Celebration will follow at a later date.
