James D. Laughlin, 78, passed away at his home in Ft. Myers, Florida on July 30, 2019. James is survived by his wife Deborah Laughlin of 29 yrs. Daughters Cathy Burroughs and Leigh (Kent) Lewis of Troy, Illinois. Susan Eckhart of Cumming Georgia, Jackie (Jason) Bode and Jeff (Erin) Nemsky both of St. Jacob Illinois. Grandchildren Tyler, Paige, Abby, Evan Burroughs, Mari Lewis, Frances Jordan, Jayne Lewis, and Andrew, Bennett and Callan Eckhart. Step-grandchildren Payton and Maris Bode and Chathan Nemsky. Sisters Kelly (michael) Imbimbo of Hudson, Florida and Sandy (John) Vennemann of St. Louis, Missouri.

James is preceded in death by his parents James F. and Bernice Schwehr Laughlin and his first wife Rosemary Kronable Laughlin.

James was the former owner of Laughlin Funeral Home for many years, retiring in 2008. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, former Fire Chief and member of the Troy Fire Department, and was also a Commissioner with the Troy Police Department.
