John Edward Gerard

John Edward Gerard, 25, of Fort Myers Florida, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025 at Gulf Coast Hospital. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Born in Kankakee, Illinois, John graduated from Lee County School District Buckingham Exceptional Student Center.

John was proceeded in death by grandparents John E & Betty M Gerard and Dennis R & Patricia C Hubert and uncle Robin Gerard. He is survived by his parents John M & Cynthia Gerard, aunts and uncles, David Gerard, Robert & Debra (Gerard) Heinlein, Eric & Barbara (Hubert) Peryer and Todd & Kim Hubert and cousins Michael Heinlein, Hillary Hubert, Peryer, Quinn Peryer, Emily Hubert and Luke Hubert.

John (Johnny) was a light in the lives of many, including Kankakee School District 111 teachers, paraprofessionals and private therapists. His smile could light up a room! He especially loved spending time with his Nanny (Betty).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to River Valley Special Recreation Foundation at 1335 E Broadway ST, Bradley IL 60915 where Johnny attended summer camp.
