Joseph J. Swirble
March 15, 1950 - March 12, 2025
Joseph J. Swirble passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12th after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
"Joe" as he was known to family and friends was born March 15, 1950 in Hazleton, Pa. to parents Michael and Elizabeth Swirble. He attended local schools there and lived and worked in the area in the homebuilder/construction business for most of his adult life. He later relocated to Buford, Ga. where he spent several years. While in Buford, he was an active member of American Legion Post 127. He held various offices with the Legion and was also a much appreciated Officer in the Sons of the American Legion where he served as Vice Commander and Adjutant. He ran the ROTC, Boys State, and Oratorical Contestant Programs for the Legion and was involved with the Legion baseball program.
Joe loved all sports, spent countless hours watching college football and basketball cheering on his favorite teams, especially the Penn State Nittany Lions.
At the time of his death, he was living in Lehigh Acres, Fla. where he shared a residence with his son, Joseph Jr. and their dog Tito.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Elizabeth Swirble and a younger brother Thomas.
In addition to his son, Joseph Jr. of Lehigh Acres, Fla., he is survived by three brothers Francis (Patty), Michael (Bettyann), John (Karen) all in Pennsylvania and a sister Mary (Bob) in Georgia. Also in Fla., Ga., and Pa. he leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as a multitude of friends. He will be sorely missed by all.
Joe's final resting place will be in Hazleton, Pa. when at the convenience of the family, he will be buried alongside his parents and brother. May he rest in peace.
