Margaret R. Adams

February 22, 1938 — April 26, 2023

Fort Myers

Margaret R. Adams, 85, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023 surrounded by her children who loved and supported her as she transitioned from her earthly life to her eternal life with her Lord and Savior.  Margaret was born on February 22, 1938 in Pembroke, Bermuda.  She is survived by two sisters: Angela Vander Werf of Grove City, Ohio and Joy Daniels (Stan) of Fort Myers, five children: Hugh M. Adams (Elizabeth Durling), Cheryl Snow (Marc), Derek Adams (Lee Ann), Dean Adams (Barbara), and Jackie Mastrodonato (Vincent), eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.  Margaret was predeceased by her beloved parents, Joseph and Agnes Lewis of Bermuda, her brother Lucius Lewis of Ottawa, Canada and sister, Patricia Gibbons of Somerset, Bermuda. She moved from Bermuda to the United States in 1957.  In 1972, with a leap of faith and the support of dear friends and family, she moved her family from Palmdale, California to Fort Myers.  Once arriving in Fort Myers, Margaret began a career as a registered nurse at Lee Memorial Hospital where she worked for 25 years before retiring. Margaret was an independent and selfless woman who, with her strong will, and her immense faith in the Lord made many sacrifices in raising her five children. She ensured that her children completed their Catholic education and supported them in all of their interests. Once she retired from nursing, she devoted much more of her time serving the parishioners of St. Cecelia’s and others across Florida.  Her goal was to serve the Lord which she did up until the time of her passing. Many who knew Margaret feel her spirit as they face the daily obstacles of their lives. A Catholic mass will be held June 3, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church to celebrate Margaret’s life. Margaret was an active member of the parish’s Catholic Community where she was involved in many of its activities as it was her mission to serve God and those in need of his many blessings.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Cecelia’s Catholic Community, 5632 Sunrise Drive, Fort Myers, FL. 33919 and/ or Magnificat - Fort Myers, Mother of Mercy Chapter.  Donations to Magnificat should be sent in care of Margaret Mengle, 5017 Westminster Drive, Fort Myers, Fl. 33919
