Mary Grace Peer

Mary Grace Truax Peer (Gracie), of Cape Coral, FL and Wilmerding, PA, passed away peacefully after a short illness on March 29, 2016 at Health Park Medical Center in Ft. Myers, FL, surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old. Mary Grace is survived by 10 of her children: son Eugene Thomas Peer of Cape Coral, Fl; Daughters Kathleen Ann Kleinmann of Washington, PA, and Nancy Rita Peer of
Cape Coral, FL; sons Mark Delford Peer of Port Charlotte, David Fleming Peer, Vernon Shawn Peer, Darrel Galen Peer, Christian Peer, Curt Wesley Peer, and Brian Gerard Peer all of Cape Coral; also surviving is brother James Thomas ( Tom) Truax of Irwin,
PA; as well as several dozen grandchildren and great grand children. Mary Grace is preceded in death by her husband Delford Gene ( Del) Peer of Pitcairn, PA, and Ft. Myers, FL; her daughter, Stacie Lee Peer Toscano of Cape Coral; infant twins Diane and Derick; her parents, Kathrine Behe Truax Price, Russell Truax, and stepfather Fleming K. Price of Wilmerding, PA; and her sister , Margarette (Peggy) DeArmitt of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Mary Grace was a homemaker and caretaker for most of her life. Gracie worked as a courier at the Westinghouse Air Brake factory during WWII in Wilmerding, PA. She moved with her husband and family to Ft. Myers in 1970. In Florida, she worked for a time at Bishop Verot High school as a lunch lady and cooked meals for the rectory at St Cecilia's Catholic Church. She also volunteered for SOLVE Maternity Homes. Mary Grace will be remembered as a devout Pro-Life Catholic and a thoughtful and caring mother, well versed in the art of unconditional love. Her devotion to her very large family has been her most prized attribute. A mass is scheduled for Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 1922 SW 20th Ave Cape Coral, FL, 33991. Father John Deary will officiate the ceremony. Burial will take place privately at a later date.
