Said “Sam” Lagmiri of Cape Coral, Florida passed away at home on Sunday, February 8th, 2026. Born on May 7th, 1964 in Beni-Mallal, Morocco, he was the son of the late Ghazala and Larbi Lagmiri. Growing up, he was surrounded by eight brothers and sisters. He spent his summers at the beach near Casablanca camping, playing soccer, and fishing.
In 1986, he immigrated to the United States to study computer science and play varsity soccer at Hunter College in New York City, NY. In 1988, he met the love of his life, Kimberly Hawley of Fort Dodge, Iowa while ordering an orange juice. On May 19th, 1990 he married Kimberly in Iowa and danced the entire night. His favorite song was “Don’t Know Much,” by Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville - the couple’s wedding song.
Following their time in New York, the married couple moved to Brigantine, New Jersey to be closer to the beach. As a result of their joint dislike for the cold, Sam and Kimberly moved to sunny Florida in 1996.
In 1997, Sam was misdiagnosed with pancreatic cancer and spent months at the Mayo Clinic hospital recovering from an unnecessary surgery. His love for life, resilience, and strength allowed him to keep going. In 2001 Sam became a father to twin girls, Hanna and Madison Lagmiri. He watched over his girls during every diaper change, nap time, soccer game, swim meet, and graduation. He was the perfect father and passed on his strength and resilience to all of his girls- Kimberly, Hanna, and Madison.
He inspired Hanna to go into PET imaging sales and he inspired Madison to become a doctor to prevent misdiagnoses like his. In his free time he enjoyed cooking for his family, watching soccer, dancing, playing cards, hanging out with his granddog Cooper, and winning any competition he could find.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents Ghazala Lagmiri and Larbi Lagmiri. Sam is survived by his wife, Kimberly Lagmiri; his daughters Hanna Lagmiri and Madison Lagmiri; his brothers Abdelhadi Lagmiri, Abdelatif Lagmiri, and Adil Lagmiri; and his sisters Hanane Lagmiri, Ilham Lagmiri, Samia Lagmiri, Leila Lagmiri, and Hakim Lagmiri.
The Lagmiri’s thank everyone who has reached out with their love and prayers. They ask for time to heal from this sudden, unimaginable loss. Kimberly, Hanna, and Madison would like to especially thank everyone at DaVita Cape Point dialysis for taking such great care of Sam these last seven years; as well as the HCA Largo Kidney Transplant Center. A private viewing will be held with the immediate family.
May the strongest man find paradise now. 05.07.1964 - 02.08.2026.
