William John Orcutt

April 14, 1939 — September 17, 2024

Fort Myers

William (Bill) Orcutt, beloved father, husband, and Papa went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2024 at the age of 85.  Bill was born and raised in Dunkirk, NY where as a young man he worked at his Father’s grocery store.  Bill attended Cardinal Mindszenty High School and Gannon University before being drafted into the Army in 1962. In his early 20’s, Bill met the love of his life, Judith (Judy) Stock, the two began their life together in 1962.  Within eight years, their family was complete with their four children; Kent, Kim, Diane, and Lori.

His time in the Army had them stationed in Georgia and Alabama.  Bill and Judy eventually settled down in Toledo, Ohio in 1971, where they lived until 2018.  After many years of trying to talk Judy into moving full time to Fort Myers, Florida; she finally agreed and the two of them had been living their best life in the Sunshine State since 2018.

Once out of the Army, Bill went on to have a successful career in Advertising and Marketing spanning 50+ years.  Bill was highly respected in the industry with his tenacity and professionalism in the work he provided his clients. During his career, Bill spent time as the President of the Toledo Press Club and President of the Toledo National Exchange Club.

Bill’s loves were his family, golf and traveling. He cherished every moment he had with his family. Some of his fondest memories were taking the family trips to Cedar Point every Father’s Day when the kids were younger and the road trips back to Dunkirk to visit his parents and family.

Bill’s golf game over the years saw several hole-in-ones while in Toledo and Fort Myers. He and Judy enjoyed their time playing golf together. His love for the game saw him oversee an annual Michigan golf trip that lasted over 40 years.  He also enjoyed an annual golf trip to Ogelbay Resort with his brother, Jim and many other “brothers” from the Ogelbay Knights group.

Bill’s love of travel alongside Judy are times he forever cherished. Countless cruises to the Caribbean, trips to the Bahamas, Aruba, Europe and other tropical places always made him happy and he loved the quality time he was able to spend with Judy.

Bill was an outgoing individual who never turned away a stranger or friend when they were in need.  He loved, worked and enjoyed life to its fullest.  He was honored to have so many wonderful and amazing friends between his time in Toledo and Fort Myers. Bill was a life-long Cleveland Browns fan which is how he learned to handle life’s disappointments well. He fought a brave fight in his later years, and loved Judy beyond words.  He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Winnie and Beech Orcutt, brothers James and Robert Orcutt.  He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Kent (Gayle Ashbridge) Orcutt, Kim (Rick) Friedrich, Diane (Steve) Meyer, and Lori (Mike) Polca; grandchildren he loved dearly; Allison, Morgan, Regan, Bryden, Samantha and Michael-Tyler.

Funeral services will be held Saturday October 12, 2024 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Fort Myers, Florida.  Visitation will begin at 10:00am with the funeral mass following at 11:00am.
