Barbara Ann Simmons

Barbara Simmons 94, passed away on September 4, 2023.

Barbara was born in Hobart Indiana on March 14, 1929. She grew up in the Chicago area. 

Barbara and her husband Warren (Deceased) moved to Fort Myers in 1992 where they loved their retirement years. Barbara moved around the world about 50 times including overseas and she loved telling stories about it.

Barbara lost her husband on September 22, 2010. Although she was very saddened she was also a very strong and determined woman and carried on an additional 12 years without her beloved. In those 12 years she decided to move to California to be closer to her son. She spent 3 years there before returning to Fort Myers to live her remaining years.

Barbara was surrounded by her living family and survived by her baby brother Gene Reuter. She also had 3 children Jacquelyn (Don) Warren, Brian (Kathy-Deceased) Pearson and Craig Pearson (Deceased). She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and many Great nieces & nephews, too many to count.

Barbara was first employed with Kraft Foods at the age of 16, and then employed at multiple BX (Base Exchange/Military on base store) then a Lithograph Plate and Supply Company in Chicago and after moving to Florida she did clerical work at her brother's auto shop in Fort Myers in the 90's.

Barbara also sang in the Kraft choir which was recorded in Chicago and then broadcasted Nationwide out of New York in the 40's.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on September 12, 2023 (Tuesday) at Gallaher American Family Funeral Home, 2701 Cleveland Ave, Fort Myers, FL. 33901 at 4 PM.
