Brenda Geffre Obituary

Brenda Marie (Fredin) Geffre, 64, of Mound, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 3rd, 2019, due to complications from a brain aneurysm.

Brenda was born on July 11, 1954, in Comfrey, MN, to Merlin & Ann Fredin. She was the second to the youngest -- and the only girl -- of the five children on the family farm. When Brenda’s family moved to Windom, MN, around 8 years old, she enjoyed the Springfield Sparklers 4-H program where she showed cattle and participated in the 4-H softball league. She loved riding horses, milking the cows, and playing tag with Coscoe, their German sheepdog. Brenda attended Windom High School where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She graduated in 1973.

In 1980, Brenda bought a house next to Denny Geffre’s bachelor pad near Harrison Bay. When Brenda was in distress, Denny came to the rescue. He braved cobwebs and spiders to save the day. They were married in 1983 and were married for 35 years.

Brenda enjoyed boating with family and friends on Lake Minnetonka. Brenda loved life and being surrounded by people. Brenda was a caring and nurturing spirit. You would often hear her say, “I love my life,” while on the boat with friends, getting food somewhere new, or just simply because she did. She was welcoming to everyone and always made sure you felt at home.  She loved the outdoors.  You could often find her sitting on her deck in the mornings drinking coffee and listening to the birds. She also loved watching the sunsets. She split her time between Lake Minnetonka and Fort Myers Beach where Denny and Brenda winter. Brenda made many friends in her journey through life. Brenda was very involved with her faith. Since childhood, she spent time at bible camps, morning bible studies, Aglow, and was always involved in her church.

Brenda is survived by her husband Denny Geffre and their children Katy, Nick, Paige (Brandon) Stein, Step-Daughter Brandi (Cory, Brook & Payton) Enger. She will be greatly missed by her soon-to-be grandchild, by her brothers Curt (Linda), Jeff (Betty), Scott (Lisa), by her sister-in-law Kathy Fredin, and by her many friends, family, niece, nephews, and godchildren.

Visitation & funeral service will be held at Freshwater Community Church, 4319 Steiner St., St. Bonifacious, MN 55375 on April 13th. Visitation is from 12:00 - 2:00 with the funeral service to follow. Proceeding the service, we will be having food, music, and margaritas in honor of Brenda at the Gillespie Center, 2590 Commerce Blvd., Mound, MN 55364
