David Lee Jones

David Lee Jones was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 8, 1936 to Llewelyn Jones and Lois Faist Jones. He attended Longfellow Grade School and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1954. Dave received his BS degree from the University of Toledo (UT), College of Pharmacy in 1959 and worked as a pharmacist until 1962. In 1962 he moved into pharmaceutical sales and spent 32 years working for Syntex Laboratories based in Palo Alto, CA. Over that time, Dave won numerous sales awards and promotions. In 1994 Syntex was sold and he spent the last eight years of his career working for Wakefield Pharmaceuticals, retiring in 2002.

In 1981, Dave moved with his wife and two sons to Ft. Myers, FL. Dave loved Florida and enjoyed golfing, fishing, tennis and spending time with family and friends. He continued to stay in touch with his Toledo friends throughout his life and remained an active alumni with UT. In 2000 Dave was instrumental in the development of the Southwest FL UT Chapter and served as its first president. He worked tirelessly to organize watch parties, Tuesday luncheon get-togethers and several other annual parties including the famous Tony Paco’s party. In 2013 Dave was unanimously nominated for the UT Alumni Association Blue T Award, presented to the Alumni Association member and UT graduate who has made outstanding contributions to the progress and development of the Alumni Association and University.

Dave is survived by his wife of 58 years, Merrie Brook Miller Jones, his son Phillip, son Craig and his family, wife Laura and beloved grandchildren Daniel, Keller and Michael.

A celebration mass will be held on June 8th at 11 am at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church located at 19680 Cypress View Dr, Fort Myers, FL.
