Jacqueline Baker Obituary

Jacqueline Irene (Russell) Baker, 91 of Avon, NY/Lehigh Acres, FL

Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many, passed from our world on August 25, 2020 to be united with and held in the arms of our dear Lord.

She was predeceased by her parents, Noble and Ethel (Carr) Russell, her brothers, Robert and William Russell and her sister, Beverly (Russell) (Barber) Williams.

Jackie is survived by her loving children, daughter Connie Genduso (John) of Livonia, NY, daughter Shirley Figueroa of Henrietta, NY, daughter Donna Church of Webster, NY, son, Donald Baker, Jr. of Rochester, NY, son James Baker (Brenda) of Leicester, NY, and daughter Michelle Finegan, of Rochester, NY. She is also survived by her sister, Susanne (Russell) Williams of Saco, ME, and a sister-in-law, Marion (Russell) Marano, of Gainesville, FL, as well as many nieces, nephews and so many cherished friends.

Her surviving grandchildren are Anne Genduso Korengold (Adam), of VA, Amy Cortez (Carlos), of NC, Kris Figueroa (Trish), of AZ, Corinne Brooks (Matthew), Katherine Church,  James Morris (Julie), Jeremy “Bear” Morris, Jonathan Baker, Jordan Baker, Damon Finegan II, and Thomas Finegan, all of NY.

Surviving great grandchildren are Colette Housman, of VA, Aidan Figueroa, of AZ, Ashton Fantigrossi, Rosalena Church, Tylor Morris, Christopher Morris, Jaelyn Morris, Jessah Morris, Hope Morris and Khloe Morris, all of NY.

Born in Utica, NY in 1929, Jackie lived in the Binghamton area for many years. After earning a degree in Accounting from SUNY Binghamton in 1977, she took a job with the State of New York as a field auditor in Rochester, NY, from which she retired in 1995.

She was a faithful Christian who was an active member of the Methodist Church in both Avon, NY and Lehigh Acres, FL, as well as a member of the United Methodist Women, and she lived her life in service to others.

Our mother was an accomplished writer and heartfelt poet, with many publications. Along with her writings and poetry, her pastel and watercolor artwork will be forever cherished by her family members.  Mom never wavered in her love for any of her children. She loved all of us equally, always keeping everyone in her prayers. She was a friend to many; and she will be missed, but most of all by her six children and their families.

Her interment will be held privately by the family at Spring Forest Cemetery, Binghamton, NY.

Those wishing to do so may make a donation to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, your local public library, or a charity of your choice.
