Obituary of Jill K Herold
Jill passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 from complications of her MS condition, which she developed in 2015. On her June 21st birthday, Jill would have been 70.
She had a doctor appointment that same morning, and a male friend, who was going to take her to that appointment knocked at the door with no answer. Later, the president of the Condominium Association was called, and arrived. It was decided to call the Sheriff, and upon arrival, they gained entrance to her condo, and found her in the bedroom. Her body was cremated, and I bought the ashes back here to Texas.
Needless to say, this all occurred suddenly, and without notice. I notified a few close relatives and friends, but held off on further notice until now. Unlike in previous times, the new rules are only a Legal Notice by the Funeral parlor, and everything else is done “on line”, unless special arrangements are made. The funeral home indicated that I should prepare this document, and send it to them. It will be entered into their website with a special link, and remain in perpetuity.
Brief Biography of Jill’s Life
Jill was born in Orange New Jersey on June 21, 1948. She grew up on Forest Drive, in Union, and attended public school, graduating in 1966. College was at Waynesburg College, in Pennsylvania, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority as well as other activities. She graduated in 1970, with a degree in Education.
Her friend Sandy, was already living in Massachusetts, and they enjoyed Cape Cod, so Jill moved to Attleboro, getting a job teaching school, where she remained for 25 years.
Taking retirement in 1995, Jill then moved to Ft Myers, joining my parents, who had already retired there in 1978. She purchased a condo and eventually got a job at Florida Gulf Coast University. According to her supervisor, Janet Ullman, “Jill was employed by Florida Gulf Coast University upon the opening in August, 1997 as a Program Assistant in the Testing Center. She was a devoted employee having participated in the Center’s receipt of national certification by the National College Testing Association in 2015, just prior to her retirement on May 31, 2015.”
Shortly after her retirement, Jill was diagnosed with MS, and her condition deteriorated over the next three years. Later on, she needed the assistance of wheelchair to get around, but her attitude remained positive until the end. She will be missed by her relatives and friends.
