Joseph Coolick Obituary

Coolick Joseph Charles (Chuck).- of Cape Coral FL, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at his residence. A vigil service will be conducted at 5:30 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Gallaher American Family Funeral Home, located at 2701 Cleveland Ave. Fort Myers, FL, 33901. Family will see friends from 5PM to 8 PM. Mr. Coolick was born in Kansas City, MO February 7, 1953, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Dicton) Coolick. He graduated from Flushing High School in 1971 and later married the love of his life, Mariela Ruiz, on April 10, 1981. Mr. Coolick had a very successful career spanning 30 years with General Motors in Flint Michigan as a Union Representative of the UAW Local 651, formally known as AC Spark Plug and Delphi East. He started off as a Committee man working his way up through Shop Committee, eventually retiring as a Chairman. He was known by his UAW Brothers and Sisters as “very fair man who would always listen to both sides” and “truly cared about the people he represented”. His beloved colleagues say “Chuck/Chaz was always smiling!”, and “He deeply cared for his family, and would proudly show off pictures of his wife and children throughout the years we worked together”. He left quite a lasting impression wherever he went, as Chuck worked hard and played harder, getting the most he could out of life. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed racquetball, and working out at the gym daily. He loved getting together with family for dinner and great conversation, keeping everyone laughing, and at times on the edge of their seats with his sense of humor. Of course, it was all in good fun! He loved going to the casino chasing the jackpot but loved getting a good deal even more than that. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and would quietly volunteer his time to serve those in need. He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Mariela (Maria), 3 sons and 1 daughter; Jason Coolick and wife Stacey, Joseph John Coolick II and wife Irene, Michael Drew and husband David Badour, Stephanie and husband Matthew Arnold. 8 grandchildren, Jonah Bruckner, Ethan Forbes, Logan Forbes, Sydney Solinger, Sophia Solinger, Joseph John Coolick III, Dominic and Nathan. 3 great-grandchildren, Soren, Maisyn, and Raelyn. 5 sisters, Rita and husband Richard Zahner, Patricia A. Dunn, Jo Ann Sister Patrice Coolick, Kathleen and husband Robert Tomalia, Mary E, and husband David Bickley. 5 God children, and many nieces and nephews.
