Lenora Scearce Obituary

Lenora Herndon Scearce entered into eternal rest Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Bayfront Health, Port Charlotte, FL.

She was born in Danville, VA, February 28, 1959 where she lived the majority of her life before retiring from BB&T.

Lenora was predeceased by her father, Robert C. Herndon, Jr.; mother, Lily Mae Herndon; and sister, Debra Sue Herndon.

She is survived by daughter, Jamie Barksdale (Charlie) of Suffolk, VA; son, Steven Goard, Danville, VA; son, Captain Quentin O’Neal, (Crystal) serving with  the US Army in Alaska; and sister, Linda Herndon Gray (Danny) of Fort Myers, FL; seven grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In 2015 Lenora relocated to Florida where she met her loving and devoted companion, Doug Sloan. They enjoyed many happy times together. Her fur babies, Chloe and Joey remained constantly by her side. Lenora was employed with Wells Fargo until her health declined. She loved photography, reading, movies, and music. No matter which state she resided, everyone requested her banana pudding and potato salad at any family celebration.

Per Lenora’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Her family and friends gathered with her as she departed and prayed The Lord’s Prayer and read the 23rd Psalm with her.

Gallaher American Funeral Home, 2701 Cleveland Avenue, Suite A, Fort Myers, FL are handling her arrangements. If anyone desires to make a donation in her memory, the American Cancer Society would be her choice.
