Beloved, lifelong local resident Vicki Lancaster Shearer Hill, age 73, died on January 4, 2019.
Vicki was born May 3, 1945 in Fort Myers, Florida to Glen and Katie Lancaster. She graduated from the University of South Florida and later earned her M.A. As a math teacher and guidance counselor at Ft. Myers High, Vicki influenced the lives of countless young people. Vicki was known for her contagious laugh, deep compassion, and welcoming gatherings, as evidenced by her contributions to the Fort Myers Class of 1963 Reunion Committee. In recent years, she became an avid bridge player.
Vicki's parents and her brother-in-law, John Sirmans, preceded her in death. She leaves behind her husband, Walton E. "Rusty" Hill, Jr.; her sister, Glenda Sirmans; her son, Stacy "Bubba" Shearer (Crystal); and stepchildren Joseph "Jay" Hill, Jr. (Fran), and Elizabeth "Libby" Hill Wheeler (Ross). She also leaves grandchildren Haylee Marie Shearer Colton (Jake) and Steele Shearer. Also surviving are seven step-grandchildren, Nevada Draves, Matthew Wheeler, David Wheeler, Meagan Hill, Alexandra Hill, Robert McQuade (Elizabeth), and Kristina McQuade. Vicki will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She cherished her bridge-playing girlfriends and her vibrant and lifelong Ya-Yas.
Flowers may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 2438 Second Street, Fort Myers, Florida 33901. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019. A reception will follow at their home in North Ft. Myers.
