Warren Franklin Southern, beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on July 27, 2023 at the age of 75. Warren (Buddy) was born on April 6, 1948 in Warren, Ohio to the late William and Mildred Southern. Warren is survived by his beloved wife, Julie, and his siblings, Sharyn Lester (Danny), his twin brother William Southern (Colleen), and Cecilia Southern Lester, and his stepson, Derek Himmler. Uncle Buddy held a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews. Warren (Buddy) was predeceased by his sisters, Debbie Southern and Wilinda Doll.
Warren was the epitome of strength demonstrated by his year’s long battle with health issues.
Warren was a 1966 graduate of Champion High School and served in the United States Army, serving his country in Vietnam. Warren lived most of his adult life in Florida, but remained a huge Ohio State fan and we all knew better than to disturb him during a game!
Most everyone who knew Buddy knew him as a bit grumpy on the outside, but a teddy bear on the inside. His love for family was obvious and his big personality will be greatly missed. He also leaves behind Rosie, his dog, who brought him much joy.
Arrangements are in the hands of Gallaher American Family Funeral home, Ft. Myers, FL. There are no calling hours at this time; a ceremony will be scheduled at a later date for burial in Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota FL.
